During the 18th century Quebec City started receiving many immigrants every year for the French regime, but more than half of them went home after it was over. In 1861 Quebec City started to receive immigrants due to the timber trade. It slowly stopped, but in 1950s-1970s immigrants started to grow again due to Quebec City being more sustainable and livable.

In the future, Quebec City will start to increase in immigration due to the growing economy. These leads people to come for more jobs and can increase the culture in Quebec City. Some problems that may occur is there will be so many immigrants in the working age that if the migration starts to slow down again there won't be many people working due to the fact the birth rate is slowing down.
